This 48 year old male who was a very heavy smoker, three to four packs a day, required a Femoral anterior tibial bypass. This is a wound that he had, it occurred approximately a year previous when he had an iron rod inserted for fractured tibia. The wound that you see there, the yellowish tissue, is actually the periosteum over his exposed tibia. He’s on Plavix and aspirin as well.
We debrided down the wound and you can see him bleeding very nicely. Then we plant the Omni-stat in for a minute and 38 seconds to gain hemostasis. The patient went on to have muscle flap and then skin graft was applied over the top.
